NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display Launches Its First Folding, Light-Weight LCD Monitors For Mainstream Consumers
CHICAGO, IL - NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. announced today its first line of light-weight LCD monitors that fold up for easier portability. Designed for home users and gamers on the go, the new monitors adjust to a variety of angles, including flat against their bases. Priced low to help drive LCD monitors further into mainstream consumer and gaming markets, the 15-inch NEC LCD1565 is $349 U.S. ESP and the 17-inch NEC LCD1765 is $549 U.S. ESP.
The new units collapse into small packages that weigh 8.6 lbs for the NEC LCD1565 and 13.2 lbs for the NEC LCD1765. In addition, a thin-frame bezel on all sides of the screen reduces users' horizontal desktop space. When not on the desk, these monitors, which display 88 pixels per inch on the 15-inch unit and 96 pixels per inch on the 17-inch unit, can withstand the average wear and tear of most nomadic users.
"For the growing number of consumers eager to upgrade to an LCD monitor, portability will be a differentiating factor that will enable them to leverage the advantages of LCD technology in a variety of computing environments," said Sam Bhavnani, displays analyst at ARS, Inc. "No longer tied to one desktop, this next generation of LCD monitors introduces a new level of computing mobility in the home at competitive price points."
For enhanced comfort and productivity, users can easily adjust the monitor stand to maximize their viewing experience. One can control the screen settings from the side of the panel using the company's On Screen Manager function. The new displays attempt to bring an enhanced viewing experience traditionally found only in high end monitors with optimum resolutions.
